Karnival for KidsRotary Club of Westfield put on a wonderful fund-raising event in support of Kamp for Kids May 28 - 31, 2009. Karnival for Kids was a tremendous success, raising about $7,500 for Kamp. Mr. John Reed, Chairman of the Board of Mestek, graciously allowed the Karnival to be held on the Mestek grounds which proved to be a wonderful location attracting many families as they drove by.
Kamp for Kids has been in continuous operation for 33 years, providing an integrated summer camp experience for disabled and able-bodied children, most from low to moderate income families. Located on Russell Road in Westfield, last year Kamp served 204 boys and girls, about two-thirds with disabilities, one third without. Kamp offers skills building in the areas of self-mastery and socialization through various activities.
Kamp's partnership with the Rotary Club of Westfield, through events like the Karnival, is a great way to fund the various activities at Kamp and keep it running as it has for so many years.
